GOYA
Not like the beans but as in Get Off Your Arse and shoot something. Simple concept coined by Atlanta photographer Zack Arias. I am guilty of not GOYA enough so one of my New Year’s resolutions is to shoot more and feed the blog with some fresh stuff. To get it started last Saturday I helped Konrad shoot some portraits of our Mom for one of his projects in school and we went all Joe Mcnally on the set up. Later we shot some self portraits in the hallway which I’ll post a bit later but overall it was a lot of fun and I feel like I want to do this way more often. Work keeps me very busy so time is limited but even those of us who are really busy waste a lot of time either on watching tv or internet. I have to stop pressing the Stumble Upon button on my browser. This thing is addictive.
Sunday took me to the streets with one lens to just see what catches my eyes. No pressure just letting go and seeing. It felt great to disconnect from everyday and get into it again. It was cold, around 20-25 F in the city. Streets were pretty empty but sun was out and light was great. As soon as I took the camera out of my backpack I see this scene. Between 2 buildings, a new lot was getting cleared probably ready for new condo development. Against the sun this street cat is totally scoping the lot like a Lion King. It was like an urban safari moment. Once he noticed me he slowly backed out keeping an eye on me closely. He wasn’t to be effd with so I let him be but managed to grab a couple frames that made my day.
late drive

Trees
Hard drive fishing expedition. Shot those almost a year ago with the 45mm tilt shift nikkor. Awesome lens but of limited use unless all you do is architecture or make things look like toys, or shoot trees
